At this time, Modesto Virtual Academy recommends that students in grades 7-12 continue at their school site for the remainder of the semester and start with the MVA in January following Winter Break. This will ensure continuity of their academic progress. If you are in grades TK-6, new to Modesto City Schools, or have a special situation, please call (209) 574-8192 for enrollment details.

Modesto Virtual Academy (MVA) is an independent study program for K-12 facilitated by credentialed teachers through online courses.

Students follow the independent study structure of initial orientation and completion of an MVA independent study contract. Weekly assignments must be completed and students must attend scheduled meetings to remain in the program.

MVA Students remain enrolled at school of resident and are eligible for activities at the school including sports. Course content is accessed through online curriculum. Students may need to attend in-person for testing or other activities throughout the year.

Students who have an interest in attending MVA who are currently eligible for Special Education and Related Services through an IEP, must have an IEP meeting to discuss a possible programmatic change PRIOR to enrollment in MVA. For additional information regarding this process, please contact your case-manager.

Similarly, students on a 504 plan who have an interest in attending MVA, must have a 504 meeting to discuss a possible programmatic change PRIOR to enrollment in the MVA. For additional information regarding this process, please contact your school’s 504 Coordinator.
